JazzDeck author, Brian Switzer, toured for the last two years as solo trumpet for the Grammy Award-winning rock band Train. He has also performed with Muse for several US dates. As a band director in California public schools, his middle school jazz band - Borel Middle School in San Mateo, CA - was selected to participate in the NextGen Monterey Jazz Festival on three separate occasions. Brian Switzer founded NorCal Jazz in 2007 which hosts summer jazz camps and improvisation workshops throughout the year. He has maintained an active private studio since 1993. Mr. Switzer holds a degree in music education and jazz performance from UCLA in Los Angeles California.
